Birdwatching 101
Birdwatching is a hobby that can provide you with a lifetime of enjoyment. Be introduced to the basic elements of birding, such as bird shape, size and feeding patterns that you can use to identify your feathered neighbors. Handouts and resources to help you get started on your birdwatching adventures will also be provided. For the second class, we will meet at a local park to do some birdwatching and see who has started to migrate through Minnesota. Beginners welcome.
Bring to Sep 20 class:
- Dress for the weather
- Binoculars
- Field Guide of your choice (optional)
- Pencil and paper (optional)
- Field locations discussed at first class.

Amber Burnette
Instructor
Amber Burnette is a passionate bird enthusiast who loves to imbue that love of learning about our fine feathered friends with others of all ages. She has taught and led birding and environmental-topic classes for 20 years. She has a Masters from the University of Minnesota in partnering with birds to teach environmental education, and is an interpreter for numerous nature centers and other local organizations. Amber is a licensed bird bander with the North Central Bird Observatory and conducts fieldwork specifically around grasslands habitat, but generally in support of the importance of urban green spaces for birds.
