Stained Glass Garden Stake

This is an intermediate-level class for students who have had any kind of stained glass training, here or else where (even if it’s just sun catchers!). Students will make stained glass garden stakes and choose from many different designs and glass colors provided. This class will employ the copper foil method of assembly and all tools and supplies will be provided. We will be cutting glass at session one, so please dress accordingly and bring your own safety glasses and lunch.

Class requirements:

  • Please wear clothing with a smooth hard finished surface, like denim or t-shirt knit. Glass chips will stick in sweaters, fleece or lace.
  • Best to wear shirts a high neckline.
  • Shoes should not have open toes, or open tops (like a slip-on), also leather is better than a mesh that would catch glass chips.

Eligible UCare members may receive up to a $15 discount on many Community Education classes when registering over the phone. Contact Community Education for further information.

Lisa a B.A. in Psychology from the U of M and an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas. She works full-time as an personal assistant, but has been doing stained glass on the side for over 40 years. In high school, she took every art class she could from Art History and Architecture. Then she took a Community Ed class in stained glass (a course not offered in the school curriculum). It was the perfect combination of art and craft. She drew her first window design on a napkin and it turned out so cool; she was hooked.

Over the years, she has made hundreds of windows from suncatchers to large installations. In 2006, she completed two window walls in a church in Cameroun, Africa that were 36' long by 8' high. In 2018, she went back to Africa to install seventeen panels she made in Minnesota the previous year. She has been teaching community ed classes for the past six years now and loves getting other people enthusiastic about the art.

Lisa lives in Columbus,MN . She is married and has two grown sons and two grandsons.
