Open Swimming Policies All swimmers must take a shower before entering the water. Anyone under the age of seven must have an adult swimming with them within arms reach. You may bring your own balls, noodles, Coast Guard Approved Personal Flotation Devices, etc to the facility. Inflatables are not allowed. Rings, noodles, and balls are provided. Limited changing is available in the locker rooms.

Anoka-Hennepin Parent Involvement promotes partnerships, based on the belief that parents are their children's most important teacher. We offer a wide variety of resources to meet the changing needs and interests of parents and families. Program activities encourage: Family members as involved educators of their children. School staff as they partner with families to assist students. Community members as they collaborate with families and staff to improve education for all students.

Purpose To familiarize young children (from ages 6 months to 3 years) to the water and prepare them to learn to swim in the American Red Cross Preschool Aquatics or Learn-to-Swim courses. It is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or to survive in the water on their own. Prerequisites No skill prerequisites Child must be at least 6 months old to enroll Parent or other caregiver must accompany each child into the water and participate in each class Learning Objectives (Parent and Child Level 1 and 2 Combined): Learn to ask for permission before entering the water. Learn to expect adult supervision when near water. Learn how to enter and exit the water in a safe manner. Feel comfortable in the water. Explore submerging to the mouth, nose and eyes completely. Explore submerging in a rhythmic pattern completely. Explore buoyancy on the front and back position. Glide on the front and back with assistance. Perform combined stroke on front and back with assistance. Change body position in the water with support. Learn basic water safety rules and how to avoid water hazards around the home. Learn about the importance of wearing a life jacket and experience wearing one. Learn how to stay safe in, on and around the water, including knowing how to stay safe in the sun and how to avoid recreational water illnesses. Learn to look carefully before entering the water. Learn how to call for help and the importance of knowing first aid and CPR. Learn what to think about and do when exhausted or caught in a dangerous situation. Refunds or make-up classes are not available for any missed classes. Any class cancellations must be made five business days in advance and will incur a $10 processing fee.

Participate in fun activities with your children and meet other parents. There will be fun toys and activities each week. Along with songs, finger plays, and new friends for everyone. Registration is required. Fee: $3 per child. Baby Playtime is for children from birth up to 12 months. Baby/Toddler Playtime is for children ages birth to 30 months. Playtime is for children birth up to kindergarten.
